Marie

Lund

1976 Copenhagen - lives and works in London

Marie Lund’s oeuvre is characterized by a multifaceted approach to the discipline of sculpture. She often works with found objects whose back-story is embedded in the material. The artist transforms these into her own shapes by adding or subtracting, accentuating marks or blurring them, dissolving structures or revealing new qualities.

Marie Lund has shown her work in solo exhibitions at venues such as Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe; Museo Marino Marini, Florence; Proyectos Monclova, Mexico City; IMO Projects, Copenhagen; and Mudam, Luxembourg. Group shows include Tate Britain, London; Extra City, Antwerp; CCA Wattis, San Francisco; DRAF, London; MOCA, Detroit; , The Swiss Institute, New York; Kunstmuseum Krefeld; South London Gallery, London; and Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

Before embarking on her solo career, Lund spent several years working together with fellow Danish artist, Nina Beier. Together they have shown at Kunsthalle Zürich; Kunstverein Hannover; Malmo Konsthall; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; Kunsthaus Glarus; and Tate Modern, London.
