WHAT IS NEXT?

Planning the future always has a hint of fiction, or imaginary expectation.

In the current global situation, corona virus plays a difficult role for everyone who is looking for a job or trying to get more implicate in the commercial world.

The art world is very hard to get in, and coming from a Master in fine arts, is no better. The perfect scenario, for me, right after finishing the MFA, would be to work for an artist, or as an assistance in a studio. It feels, from my experience, that once I left my hometown and country, to improve my education and deepen my knowledge in the art world, does not make sense to leave London right after finishing the MFA. I want to take advantage of everything I have been learning and experiencing. I believe I have to, at least, try to gain some work experience in this city, and maybe, who knows? Work and leave for some years, here, in the capital “that never sleeps”, specially in visual arts environment.

I feel that learning from others is the best way to understand studio and commercial routines in art business. Also, I would like to experience working as a team and learn from people with different backgrounds from me. Culture is really relevant for an art practice, therefor I would like to share it, and absorb from others.

I aim to prepare very clear documentation about by practice and my whole education journey. A portfolio that represents me and my work, a CV, among others. This process takes time and hard work. For this reason, my plan would be to do a ceramic residency. I am very interested in clay and the whole process, is something that I had already worked with but would be very important to deepen. As an example, learn about kiln and firing techniques. Additionally it feels like the right element to work with or following cement, because it is a material with more fragile characteristics and allows more precision.

During this residency period I would be applying for studios, fabrication companies and ceramic workshops. And ideally I will find a job to start after finishing the residency.
